HOSA’s mission is to empower future health professionals to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration and experience.
Spring Valley Academy leaders were planning for someone to lead this initiative a year from now. It feels very providential that the person and the funding came a year ahead of schedule.
Early last spring, Pine Forge Academy (PFA) students, faculty and families celebrated a historic event years in the making. The choir, accompanied by Diallo Banks on piano; Russel Paul, using one of the oldest and largest organs in the Philadelphia area; and a full orchestra, recorded their most recent audio CD.

“We want our student leaders to gain a better sense of their leadership responsibilities and how to meet them,” says Jaqueline Messenger, event coordinator and the Columbia Union’s associate director for secondary education.
This school year, Harry Janetzko (left) is the Chesapeake Conference Highland View Academy’s (HVA) new principal, and alumnus Reed Kenji Nomura is HVA’s new math teacher.
Each registration day, Shenandoah Valley Academy (SVA) faculty and staff form a circle, join hands and pray for the students who will momentarily walk through the doors of Twomley Hall and become part of the SVA family.
Science, technology, engineering and math are more than just part of a two-week summer program. They are an ongoing part of BMA’s award-winning STEM program.
“Today’s students learn differently,” said Taryn Talbott. “This is a generation that has grown up with technology in their hands, so they don’t learn by regurgitating memorized facts on paper; they learn by reflecting on experiences. An escape room is a perfect way to bring learning to life.”
