What’s the Fuss About Tumeric?

What is all the fuss about Turmeric? It used to be the spice people shoved back in the spice rack. But not now, turmeric or curcumin has been show to help with aches and pains in your joints, muscles or back, help with digestion, upset stomach or irregularity and flatulence, forgetfulness, brain fog and fatigue, improve depressed mood, blood sugar and cholesterol.
Turmeric is the orange-yellow powder (spice) to flavor foods whereas curcumin is a nutritional compound which contains turmeric. It originated in India and has become an amazing anti-inflammatory powerhouse!
Instead of pushing turmeric aside, let’s push inflammation aside of our bodies! The drink below has become popular and has helped some people fight inflammation in their bodies. Make sure to check with a doctor about turmeric and ginger added to the diet if you are on medications due to their powerful properties.
Golden Milk Recipe
Adapted from Dr. Oz.
Ingredients
1 cup almond or coconut milk
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger root or ginger powder
1 tsp coconut oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
Raw honey or stevia to taste
Directions
Gently warm the almond or coconut milk in a small saucepan. Do not boil.
Add ingredients and simmer on low for 10 minutes. Use a wire whisk or blender to create foam. Stir in honey or stevia to taste. Sip, savor and enjoy.
