Chesapeake Conference

Rob Jepson, Adventist HealthCare’s vice president of Government Affairs and Public Affairs, was sworn in last month as chairman of the Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce in the state of Maryland. Jepson is a member of Chesapeake Conference’s Frederick (Md.) church.

The Chesapeake Conference Executive Committee has elected Rick Remmers, DMin, as their new conference secretary.

Kitty “KM” Hammond, 76, a second-generation member of Chesapeake Conference’s Dover (Del.) church, recently had 50 years of professional art on display at the Delaware Agricultural Museum in Dover. 

Approximately 90 college-aged young adults gathered at Mt. Aetna Camp and Retreat Center in Hagerstown, Md., for the third annual Adventist Network for Evangelism by the Word (ANEW) fall conference.

We are stunned and deeply saddened to learn that Lowell Litten, principal of Eastern Shore Junior Academy, was arrested Sunday, June 14, for alleged sexual misconduct with a minor. 

Carrie Hess (pictured), an English teacher at Chesapeake Conference’s Spencerville Adventist Academy in Silver Spring, Md., joined 11 other Seventh-day Adventist teachers across North America who received top recognition by the Alumni Awards Foundation (AAF).

On April 19, a day blessed by sunshine and bright skies, the members of Chesapeake Conference’s Spencerville church in Silver Spring, Md., met on property purchased six years earlier to break ground for a new PK-12 facility.

Chesapeake Conference’s Capital Brazillian Temple in Highland, Md., recently presented awards to the top six participants in the first 13 weeks of the InStep for Life program. An initiative of the North American Division, InStep encourages members in Bermuda, Canada, and the United States to embrace a more healthful lifestyle. The program officially started January 1, however some churches like Capital Brazillian got an early start in October. 

They came months, even years ago, leaving in their path destruction, devastation, and thousands of broken hearts and lives. Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, as well as Gustav and Ike are gone now, but the broken homes and lives remain.
