On Sunday, March 7, local conference Disaster Response coordinators, along with their leadership teams, gathered at the Columbia Union Conference office for their annual advisory. 

Columbia Union members are doing all they can to help the people of Haiti and help the Seventh-day Adventist Church rebuild its ministry there. As you know, there were 522 members killed and 27,000 are now homeless

Last month Celeste Ryan Blyden, Columbia Union Conference communication director, and Kermit Netteburg, senior pastor of the Beltsville (Md.) church, led a webinar designed to help churches find practical ways to raise awareness of the Adventist Church.

At the year-end meeting of the Columbia Union Conference Executive Committee, attendees learned that despite the economic downturn, tithe is up 1.7 percent in the Columbia Union.

A former Columbia Union Visitor editor, Don A. Roth, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 20th annual Society of Adventist Communicators Convention held recently in Newport Beach, Calif. Roth edited the Visitor from 1954 to 1965, while also serving as the Columbia Union Conference public relations and radio-TV secretary.
 

The beautifully appointed Southern Asian church in Silver Spring, Md., was the scene of the Second Annual Music Awards sponsored by the Guild of Adventist Musicians. 

Some 100 leaders from all over the union recently attended the Columbia Union Conference Spiritual Leadership Symposium, a three-day event designed to provide leaders of conferences, schools, and healthcare networks, as well as those who sit on conference executive committees and college boards, with the skills necessary to lead effectively. 

The Columbia Union Conference was well represented at the Division Level Pathfinder Bible Achievement in Berrien Springs, Mich. Ohio Conference’s Delaware Discoverers and Pennsylvania Conference’s Reading Hampden Hawks went up against 24 other Pathfinder clubs from across the North American Division. 

Review and Herald employees ran away to join the circus, but instead of performing in the high-wire act, they decided to share literature with the community.
