Camp Meeting: A Taste of Heaven

Editorial by Stephen Lee

Meals unite people. Whether gathering around a family table, enjoying a picnic in the park or sharing a meal in a church fellowship hall, something sacred unfolds when we break bread together. History and Scripture reveal that shared tables heal divisions, forge friendships and transform lives. The gospel of Luke brims with stories of Jesus dining with sinners, seekers and the broken. For Him, meals went beyond sustenance—they created connection, restored dignity and offered a foretaste of heaven.

Jesus revealed God’s heart through simple acts of eating together. He welcomed outcasts, uplifted the weary and met people where they were. Around His table, grace abounded—no one was a stranger.

At the New Jersey Conference, our vision is a “World Without Strangers,” and our mission is to be “Loving and Lovable People.” As Pentecost 2025 continues, we are called to embody this vision. Imagine if our homes, schools and churches became places where Christ’s love was not only spoken but demonstrated through kindness, generosity and shared lives.

Will you find room for others at your table? Will you offer them a taste of God’s goodness through a meal shared in friendship? Hospitality is not only a duty but a privilege and a blessing. In fact, you may unknowingly be entertaining angels (Hebrews 13:2).

As we prepare for Camp Meeting 2025, under the theme, “A Taste of Heaven,” we anticipate a gathering where people of diverse backgrounds, languages and cultures unite in Christ. Around the table of fellowship, we glimpse God’s kingdom—where all are welcome and love knows no bounds. May our tables reveal the heart of God, where no one is a stranger to Jesus Christ, and all are invited to partake in His feast of grace.
