Connecting Columbia Union Seventh-day Adventists
- Disaster Response
Over a three-day period, members of Mountain View Conference’s Adventist Community Services (ACS) Disaster Response (DR) team assisted 458 people the Spencer, W.Va.-area in this month.
They came months, even years ago, leaving in their path destruction, devastation, and thousands of broken hearts and lives. Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, as well as Gustav and Ike are gone now, but the broken homes and lives remain.
Disaster response leadership from seven of the eight Columbia Union conferences, clad in their familiar yellow shirts, gathered recently at the union office for an advisory council.
Chesapeake and New Jersey conferences recently conducted a joint ACS/Disaster Response (ACS/DR) training exercise for 34 pre-trained and volunteer participants from their territories, along with the Ohio Conference.
