How to Help With Hurricane Florence Relief Efforts
Story by V. Michelle Bernard
The greatest relief effort need following Hurricane Florence is to assist the almost 10,000 evacuees still living in shelters, says Bob Mitchell, Adventist Community Services (ACS) and Disaster Relief (DR) coordinator for the Potomac Conference.
North American Division ACSDR leaders strongly recommend the requested items (see list below) be ordered from online sources to save shipping costs. They note that Amazon Prime offers free shipping and Walmart offers free shipping for orders of $35 or more.
Transportation, even from the Southern Union Conference to North Carolina, can also be very costly, say ACS leaders. Shopping online can help reduce relief costs by sending products directly to the distributors in the disaster areas.
