Washington Adventist Hospital Paves the Way for Future Professionals in Central Sterile Processing

Central Sterile Processing staff is on the front lines of patient safety and protecting patients from hospital-acquired infections. These certified healthcare professionals are tasked with highly sterilizing and disinfecting surgical and other hospital equipment.  And they are in high demand.

On May 19 Adventist HealthCare Washington Adventist Hospital, held an event to celebrate a new grant-funded partnership between the Montgomery Business Development Corporation, an economic development organization, and Adventist HealthCare that is making it possible to provide training and certification in the sterile processing career pathway to meet critical workforce needs in the region.

Known as Rx for Employability, this pilot program is helping to connect students within the Central Sterile Processing Training Course with enhanced knowledge, increased access to resources to further their careers, and the ability to compete for higher-quality jobs. Nine hospital staff members from Washington Adventist Hospital and Shady Grove Medical Center are currently enrolled in the program.
