WGTS 91.9 Holds First Ever WGTS Fest
Story by Jerry Woods
More than 3,000 pumped up WGTS listeners joined the station to celebrate the ministry’s 60th anniversary Saturday, April 1st. Those listeners were treated to music by Citizen Way, Jonny Diaz and Mercy Me. WGTS Chaplain Kumar Dixit preached a powerful message on how life is hard, but Jesus gets us through the hard times. Hundreds of listeners came to the WGTS prayer booth to ask for prayer.
Before the festival kicked off, more than 70 listener volunteers packed over 10,000 meals for “No Child Hungry.” Those meals will go to hungry families in Haiti.
In addition to the concert listeners enjoyed a play area for kids and a food truck row that all contributed to the festival atmosphere.
"Bringing together our listening family for a 60th Anniversary event started as a small idea that grew into something fantastic! There was so much engagement - so much service happening, it’s difficult to quantify. Seeing smiles on the faces of our listeners and hearing about the way God changed lives through the event - it warmed my heart big time. It was a special and unique moment in history - it was amazing to celebrate it with over 3,000 good friends!" says Kevin Krueger, WGTS general manager.
