Marilyn Scott, associate pastor of the Bell Branch and Pasadena churches and Children’s Ministries specialist for the Chesapeake Conference, has authored a new family devotional to accompany North American Division’s (NAD) “Mountain of Miracles” Vacation Bible School (VBS) program.
Scott serves on NAD VBS creative team, which develops resources used across the division. As part of that work, she helped design the first-ever devotional to extend the impact of VBS into homes after the summer program.
The 21-day devotional, available through adventsource.org, includes short daily readings with a Bible verse, story, discussion questions, prayer and a simple family activity.
Scott said the goal is to help families build consistent habits of family worship. “Vacation Bible School should not be a one-and-done event,” she explains. “We want parents to win, and this devotional makes it easy for families to worship together and bring God into daily life.”
Though written for VBS follow-up, the devotional can be used by families at any time of the year.
