WAU Students Are First Adventists to Participate in AMTA Mock Trial Competition
Story by WAU Staff
A team of Washington Adventist University (WAU) students from Takoma Park, Md., participated this year, for the first time, in American Mock Trial Association’s (AMTA) regional mock trial competition at the University of Richmond in Virginia. Although WAU students have participated in mock trial exhibitions over the years, this was the first year that students were able to compete following a religious exemption that relieved them from competing on the Sabbath.
Eight WAU students, one timekeeper and two coaches attended. The team competed directly against students from the University of Richmond, William and Mary, Penn State and Wake Forest. During the Sabbath, WAU students worshiped with the Ephesus church in Richmond.
