Highland View Academy Students Lead Week of Prayer: ‘With Jesus, for Real’

In early December, Highland View Academy’s (HVA) student body chose the speakers for the upcoming student-led Week of Prayer (SWOP): freshmen Rehan Singh and Luanny Montes; sophomore Alba Dani Peguero; junior Jason Ashman; and senior Samoria Lock.

In mid-February, the speakers went on a twoday retreat to be coached and mentored in sermon preparation by HVA’s Campus Ministries leadership team. The group spent their time praying, studying, learning and practicing for their speaking roles in the upcoming SWOP.

Weeks later, the entire student body and staff met daily for the SWOP. The morning program included prayer sessions, praise and worship, and other activities that helped the campus to focus deeply on God’s incredible love for them. Each evening, one of the student speakers shared their sermon/testimony with their peers, staff and parents. HVA staff was intentional about inviting community members to also attend, so they were pleased when many showed up.

“When you are truly with Jesus, for real, you want to tell others about Him and invite them to experience Him as well,” says Elijah Ramjattan, HVA chaplain.
