Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center Earns National Award for Physician Well-Being
Story by Adventist HealthCare Staff
Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center (WOMC) is honored to announce it has been named a recipient of the prestigious Medicus Integra© Award from The Coalition for Physician & APP Well-Being. This award recognizes and celebrates healthcare organizations that demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting the well-being, engagement and professional fulfillment of physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) through innovative programs and practices.
“We are thrilled to receive the Medicus Integra Award from The Coalition for Physician Well-Being,” says James Rost, MD, vice president and chief medical officer of Adventist HealthCare WOMC. “Supporting our medical staff's well-being is a top priority, and we have been actively strengthening our programs and increasing our initiatives under the leadership of the hospital’s Physician and APP Wellness Advisory Committee. Some of our robust initiatives include providing free coaching, counseling, access to resources and affinity groups.”
The Medicus Integra Award evaluation goes beyond paperwork, incorporating onsite assessments and direct discussions with frontline medical staff and executive teams. This ensures that honored organizations demonstrate tangible progress rather than simply meeting abstract benchmarks. DeAnna Santana, Ph.D., executive director at The Coalition for Physician & APP Well-Being, explains, “When we conduct our reviews, we look for evidence of real cultural transformation—leaders who are genuinely listening to their teams and taking meaningful steps to drive systemic change. White Oak Medical Center exemplifies those qualities.”
Anthony Stahl, president of WOMC, adds, “Maintaining a continuous focus on the well-being of our physicians and APPs has empowered White Oak Medical Center to reduce physician burnout, foster stronger working relationships and enhance the quality of patient care. It also aligns with our mission of extending God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing. We are grateful to The Coalition for Physician & APP Well-Being for recognizing our efforts.”
