Delonte Bruce Named Interim Head Coach of WAU Acro-Airs

Washington Adventist University (WAU) is proud to announce Delonte Bruce, an esteemed alumnus, as the Interim Head Coach of Acro-Airs. This appointment marks a significant milestone for Bruce and the university’s renowned acrobatics team. “Coach Delonte is as sharp as they come,” said Athletics Director Jered Lyons. “He has an in-depth knowledge about acrobatics that will shine through with his impact on the team. He is well respected among members of the team and their support was evident during the hiring process. Coach Delonte doesn’t just have interest but he has a commitment to this program and its excellence. We are thrilled to identify a candidate that understands the rich history of Acro and skill-set and drive to continue it.”
Delonte Bruce’s connection with WAU runs six years deep. As a former student, Bruce was an integral member of Acro-Airs, the university’s premier acrobatics team known for its dazzling performances and dedication to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. His time on the team not only honed his acrobatic skills but also instilled in him the values of teamwork, leadership, and perseverance.
Bruce continued to stay involved with the acrobatics community at WAU, contributing his expertise and passion as an assistant coach for three years. His promotion at WAU as the Interim Head Coach is a testament to his commitment to the sport and his alma mater. Bruce’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for Acro-Airs. With a new season on the horizon, his leadership is expected to bring fresh energy and innovative strategies to the team. His vision for Acro-Airs includes not only maintaining their high standards of performance but also expanding their outreach and impact within the community. “I am honored to take on this role and give back to the program that has given me so much,” Bruce said. “My favorite bible verse is Matthew 22:34-40, and I try to emulate the love of Christ in my coaching style.”
