Teens from the Baltimore-White Marsh Church participated in service projects and leadership training during My City My Passion from July 9-16.

The weeklong local mission trip provided 11 teenagers an opportunity to take part in creative service projects in Baltimore, such as serving breakfast to residents at the Ronald McDonald Charity House, assisting local food programs, and cleaning community parks. The group also distributed more than 200 evangelistic books and GLOW tracks.

Service, spirituality, and leadership development were the three main objectives of the program, according to Baltimore-White Marsh senior pastor Diego Boquer. Daily spiritual messages and appeals challenged teens to grow their faith.

“It was rewarding to see how the Holy Spirit touched their hearts,” Boquer says.

Leadership training during the week incorporated curriculum from the John Maxwell YouthMAX program and addressed topics such as bullying and learning from failures.

My City My Passion is the latest of several Baltimore-White Marsh Church initiatives this summer focused on reaching children and youth. The congregation also hosted a week of FLAG Camp and partnered with the Baltimore-White Marsh Adventist School to provide a three-week learning program for kids ages 5-10.

“Now that the kids have created a bond, we plan to have ongoing youth programs where they can come hang out, learn about God, and search,” Boquer says.
