Rick Remmers Accepts Call to North American Division

Today, Rick Remmers, executive secretary of the Columbia Union Conference, accepted a call to the North American Division (NAD) to serve with President G. Alexander Bryant as assistant to the president.

“Following weeks of prayerful consideration, I have sensed the Lord’s leading,” says Remmers. “I will finish up the round of fall meetings taking place and make the transition at the end of the year.”

Columbia Union President Dave Weigley, says, “It’s been a pleasure working with Rick. He has been a real blessing to our union, and though he will be missed, I think the division has made a wise choice.”

Remmers, who previously served as president at the Chesapeake Conference for more than nine years, joined the union as executive secretary January 1, 2021, and was re-elected at the union’s constituency meeting in May.

Remmers started his ministry as an associate pastor at the Ohio Conference’s Mount Vernon Hill church and has mostly served within the union—as a pastor in several other churches in Ohio, as well as Chesapeake Conference’s Atholton church in Columbia, Md., and Hagerstown (Md.) church. Prior to this, he served as executive secretary in both the Illinois and Chesapeake conferences.
