Berea Temple Hosts 40 Days of Prayer

Berea Temple church members in Baltimore recently hosted a transformative 40-day journey of prayer, devotion and spiritual renewal. Led by Pastor Maurice Taylor and the church elders, the congregation gathered nightly on Zoom and in person on Sabbaths.

Scriptural reflections, meaningful discussions, heartfelt prayers and inspiring testimonies filled the evening sessions. The devotional guide they used for this journey was 40 Days: Prayers and Devotions on the Assurance of Salvation (book 14), authored by Dennis Smith.

Between 80 to 95 households joined each night to discuss the book, pray for one another, intercede for their families and communities, and testify of God’s love. The 40-day journey culminated with an in-person anointing service, where participants presented their burdens to God and the names of people whom they wanted to come or return to Him. Following the anointing service, members participated in an agape feast to celebrate answered prayers.

One member reflects, “I have never felt so close to God. This experience has deepened my faith.”

The 40 Days of Prayer was more than just an event, say leaders; it was a revival, a renewal and a spiritual milestone for the church family.
