Newark Free Health Clinic Serves 400

Story by Jean Michel Etienne, Health Ministries Director

The New Jersey Conference hosted a two-day Free Health Clinic in Newark, N.J., last year, offering hope, healing and holistic care to the community. Held at the John F. Kennedy Recreation Center and East Side High School, the event was supported by the deputy mayor and a city councilman. It united public officials, health care professionals and faith-based volunteers with one mission: to serve Newark through compassionate care.

The clinic focused on dental and vision care and expanded to include a wide range of medical and wellness services. In partnership with Life and Health Network, Mantena Global Care, Adventist Young Professionals, and more than 25 organizations, specialists in multiple disciplines provided free consultations and treatments. Guests also enjoyed barber and hair services, massage therapy, occupational therapy, pastoral care, nutritional counseling and children’s activities.

More than 180 volunteers, including medical professionals pastors, teachers, Pathfinders, Master Guides, church members and residents, served more than 400 Newark residents with kindness and dedication.
