The Deeper Reason

Editorial by Kevin Krueger

On paper, our work looks simple: We run a radio station. But if that’s all a person sees, the real story has been missed.

Every day, God works through this media ministry that reaches far beyond transmitters and playlists. Think of how each song steps quietly into a living room, vehicle, hospital room, prison cell and break room. Consider how God brings together the listener and the station right when that specific message is needed in their life.

Listeners tell us over and over: “That song played at just the right moment. I really needed it.” Behind those stories are emotions of hope restored, burdens lifted, friendship felt and faith renewed. These songs don’t just play on the radio—they minister to people in a deep way. The music, community and faith-forward conversation reminds those who feel weary and beaten down that they are loved.

That’s why our mission is about more than broadcasting. It’s about creating moments (these divinely timed moments) where God’s truth and his love meet real everyday life. Those moments change the course of a day … and even the course of a life.

We’re not here to simply fill a spot on the radio dial, we’re here to fill hearts—with encouragement, with truth and with the reminder that God is still at work. As our mission states, “We believe we are here to encourage everyone we encounter to take one step closer to Christ.” That’s the deeper reason we do what we do, and it will always matter.

WGTS 91.9 and all of our ministries are strong, ministering every minute of the day, and they are moving forward as God leads and provides.
