WGTS 91.9 Takes Part in National Day of Prayer
Story by Jerry Woods
Last Thursday, WGTS 91.9 team members dispered throughout Maryland to help listeners celebrate the National Day of Prayer. In Rockville, Md., morning show co-host Summer Shepherd led a prayer for the media at a public gathering at Circuit Court Plaza. In Silver Spring, Md., around noon, Promotions Director Ken Scribner and afternoon show hosts Johnny and Stacey Stone prayed with listeners and participated in a prayer gathering for more than 100 people at Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center.
To wrap up the day, WGTS morning show host and Marketing Director Jerry Woods led a team to Annapolis, the Maryland state capital. Woods took part in live check-ins with local leaders and pastors, and invited people to attend the program. Approximately 600 people came together to sing and pray.
“People preached up front at this event, but the real power was people who didn’t really know each other coming together to pray for each other and our country,” says Scribner. “Something special happens when strangers still share the most important thing in common, and that’s their faith in God.”
