Hispanic Elders Couples’ Retreat Breaks Record

Story by Debra Anderson

The Hispanic Elders Couples’ Retreat exceeded expectations, drawing more than 320 couples from Hispanic churches across the Potomac Conference. This turnout made it the largest couples’ retreat in the North American Division and a defining moment for Hispanic Ministries.

Far more than a weekend getaway, the retreat offered a spiritually enriching experience designed to strengthen marriages, deepen faith and address family dynamics. Presenters led dynamic seminars rooted in biblical principles and real-life experiences. Each session gave couples practical tools to enhance communication, resolve conflict and build stronger spiritual foundations in their homes.

One of the most moving moments came during the vow renewal ceremony. Couples stood hand-in-hand, recommitting themselves before God and their fellow believers. As heartfelt prayers were lifted, many couples wept, embraced and experienced deep emotional healing. The sacred ceremony was followed by a powerful group prayer session, uniting participants in faith and purpose. The retreat concluded with an elegant gala dinner, an evening of joy, laughter and celebration of enduring love.

Rafael Soto, vice president for Hispanic Ministries, called the retreat “historic in every aspect. It shows what happens when the church invests intentionally in families—we witness healing, restoration and spiritual renewal on a deep level.”
