Story by LaTasha Hewitt
Allegheny East Conference (AEC) recently kicked off the yearlong celebration of its 80th anniversary of the organization of Allegheny Conference, AEC’s mother conference.
Trevor Kinlock, AEC president, moderated a three-part discussion titled, “Allegheny at Eighty: Advancing Our Legacy—A Discussion about the Past, Present, and Future” at the Emmanuel-Brinklow church in Ashton, Md.
Panelists included Benjamin Baker, a professor, author and historian; Douglas Morgan, a professor at Washington Adventist University in Takoma Park, Md.; Carol Wallington, a retired educator; Marcus Harris, pastor of Emmanuel-Brinklow; Colby Matlock, pastor of the Breath of Life church in Gaithersburg, Md.; and Claudia Allen, volunteer lay pastor at Dupont Park church in Washington, D.C.
The program also featured musical presentations from the choir at George E. Peters Adventist School in Hyattsville, Md., and a video presentation from Pine Forge Academy (Pa.). An offering was also collected for the AEC schools.
Attendees viewed a historical art display in the church’s chapel to learn more about the legacy of AEC, while listening to Baltimore Junior Academy’s string ensemble.
“We are excited about this important milestone,” says Kinlock, “and look forward to [continue] celebrating what God has done in our conference.”
