Columbia Union

The Everett church has dreamt of having a new church for 12 years. The Lord provided, and they purchased land between Everett and Bedford. This location will enable the congregation to reach out to both communities, and places on land with a developing community center and future medical facilities.

Through the combined efforts of the Faithful Flock of Calvary church in Jessup, Md., and the Miracle Temple church Eagles Pathfinder Club in Baltimore, 65 inmate families in the Baltimore metropolitan area were recently blessed with a full course Thanksgiving meal.

On January 2, 2008, Weymouth Spence, EdD, will become the 19th president of Columbia Union College (CUC) in Takoma Park, Md.

At its year-end meeting, the Columbia Union Conference Executive Committee celebrated the union’s centennial with the unveiling of a three-dimensional display that features photos and mementos that chronicle the union’s history.

Lelia Cooper, a Shiloh church member in Huntington, W.Va., got a memorable call recently. On behalf of her deceased brother, Major William L. Hill, a Pilot Tuskagee Airman for the United States Air Force, Cooper was asked to accept a Congressional Gold Medal of Honor on his behalf. 

Washington Adventist Hospital (WAH) recently celebrated a century of improving the health and lives of people and communities by hosting a centennial celebration gala at The National Building Museum, in Washington, D.C.

Yesterday some 85 members of the Columbia Union Conference Executive Committee, all eight conference executive committees, and the CUC Board of Trustees (CUCBOT) met at the Southern Asia church to dialogue about Columbia Union College, the Adventist college in the nation’s capital.

Potomac Conference Hispanic Ministries recently launched Caravan of Hope, a four-day intensive evangelistic outreach in the Washington, D.C., metro area.

Between 250 and 300 Columbia Union College (CUC) students, faculty, and staff recently left their classes and ran from their desks to go and make a difference in their community. Service Day is an annual event sponsored by the college’s Campus Ministries and other various academic departments.
