Adventist HealthCare’s two Advanced Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Centers have received the Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Center of Excellence award from Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services.
Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville, Md., and Adventist HealthCare Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, Md., offer highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds that have not healed in a reasonable amount of time.
“We are thrilled to be recognized by Healogics for our commitment to our wound care patients,” said Cary Brown, M.D., co-medical director of the center at Shady Grove Medical Center. “Being a Center of Excellence demonstrates our dedication to our patients with chronic wounds. Whatever it takes for healing to occur, we’re equipped and staffed to make it happen.”
To receive this recognition, the wound care centers had to achieve patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent and a healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 30 median days to heal, for a minimum of two consecutive years.
Cutting edge treatment options at Adventist HealthCare’s wound care centers include negative-pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies. The centers also offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen to help progress the healing of the wound.
"Being recognized as a Center of Excellence speaks to our center’s consistent commitment to clinical excellence, as well as our dedication to providing a top-notch patient experience,” said Ajit Kurup, M.D., medical director of the center at Washington Adventist Hospital. “We are delighted to offer high-quality, specialized wound healing treatments to our community.”
