How to Help With Hurricane Michael Relief

Story by V. Michelle Bernard

Adventist Community Services Disaster Response (ACS DR) volunteers continue to operate several distribution operations for relief efforts in North and South Carolina, but Hurricane Michael relief is now at the forefront. Bob Mitchell, Potomac Conference ACS and DR coordinator, Potomac Conference, reports:

“The damage is so extensive that authorities and first response organizations are still working to clear access to many areas. Some power has been restored, but the power companies indicate it will takes weeks to restore power to many areas,” he says. “Our ACS DR leadership and local volunteers are in daily contact with federal, state and local authorities as they work to locate buildings that would be suitable for warehouse and distribution sites.”

Mitchell continues to encourage those who want to donate funds. “Cash is always king. Your financial support is the most versatile way of supporting the ACS DR response.” Provide financial support through several options—directly to NAD ACS, communityservices.org, and clicking on the DONATE NOW option. or by donating to ADRA, who has partnered with ACS to help hurricane victims.
