Disciples of Jesus 'Love One Another'

Story by Becky Patrick, Principal

Welcome to the new school year at Shenandoah Valley Academy (SVA), where the mission is to educate the next generation of Christ’s disciples. At SVA, there are inspiring possibilities for students to learn, work and choose Jesus as Savior and Friend— to live as His disciples! Jesus tells us how: “Love one another. … By this everyone will know you are My disciples” (John 13:34–35, NIV, paraphrased).

SVA family, what is your plan of action to “love one another” this year? Students, as you register for class, set up your dorm room, and meet friends and teachers, consider: Will you commit to giving more than you expect to receive this year? You will be challenged and deeply engaged in academics, relationships, ministry, work, music, sports—do it all and have fun doing it! But also, will you tutor the struggling; encourage a teacher; pray with a friend; hug the homesick; include the lonely; share your testimony; glorify God through mission, music or community service ministry?

How will you uplift and help? How will you share the love and grace of Jesus on campus and beyond? I am committed to “love one another.” Will you?
