Camp Blue Ridge to Hold Groundbreaking, Grand Reopening Ceremony
Story by Tiffany Doss
A historic groundbreaking ceremony will take place at Potomac Conference's Camp Blue Ridge in Montebello, Va., on October 10 at 4 p.m.—marking the beginning of Phase 1 of the Master Plan for the campus. The Master Plan, designed to improve the overall guest experience and create additional adult housing and meeting spaces—including an adult retreat center—will kick off with construction of a new cafeteria with increased dining space.
This event will also serve as a grand reopening. “There’s hardly a building on campus that has not received an update,” says Ray Queen, director. “Town Hall and the Camp Office received total overhauls. Buildings have been reinsulated and new roofs installed. As we move into our various Master Plan Phases, we will continue doing major improvements to the campus, including building a new multi-purpose building/gymnasium and upgrading our roads and access points.”
Currently, Camp Blue Ridge is open and ready for guests. Leaders are encouraging families and small church groups to use these upcoming months for a nice getaway. “We want people to take advantage of our beautiful campus to relax, refresh and reconnect with our Creator,” says Julie Minnick, associate director of the camp.
