Will You Pick It Up?
Story by Roy Weeden, EITC Coordinator
Imagine finding money along a path—real value just waiting to be picked up. That’s essentially what’s available through Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program—and it’s making a life-changing difference for Blue Mountain Academy (BMA) students.
Through EITC, individuals and businesses can redirect a portion of their Pennsylvania state taxes to support student scholarships. Instead of sending those dollars to the state, you can invest them directly in Seventh-day Adventist education. Donors receive up to a 90% state tax credit, meaning your gift only “costs” about 10% of the amount you give. It’s one of the most impactful and cost-effective ways to support Christian education.
Your contribution helps make Christ-centered education immediately accessible to students who might not be able to afford it—opening doors to academic growth, spiritual development and a stronger future. At the same time, you significantly reduce your tax burden.
There are two participation windows each year: Spring (March–May) and Fall (October–December). Individuals typically benefit most from applying in the fall, while businesses often enroll in the spring to adjust quarterly tax payments.
Over the past two years, nearly $1 million has been committed to student tuition across Pennsylvania Conference schools through EITC. Getting started is simple: Visit eitcpaschools.org and complete a short joinder form. Then choose the amount and designate BMA or another school. You can also refer a business or contact the team at eitc@paconference.org.
