Takoma Academy Hosts Mid-Atlantic Adventist Robotics Event

Story by Potomac Conference Staff

Potomac Conference’s Takoma Academy in Takoma Park, Md., recently hosted the Mid-Atlantic Adventist Robotics Qualifying Event for the FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) Championship.

The Potomac Conference, TA and Adventist Robotics partnered to hold the event, bringing together Seventh-day Adventist middle school robotics teams from across the Mid-Atlantic states within the Columbia Union to showcase their innovation, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

“The purpose of the event is to encourage students to explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics in a faith-centered environment that promotes creativity, critical thinking and teamwork,” says Courtney Brown, Math and Innovations teacher at Takoma Academy Preparatory School. “Teams that participated in the qualifying event now have the opportunity to continue refining their skills and advancing through the robotics competition pathway.”

The FLL championship is scheduled for May 3 at Forest Lake Academy in Apopka, Fla.

Schools interested in getting involved in future Adventist Robotics events are encouraged to begin forming teams and connecting with Adventist Robotics for resources, mentoring and registration information.

The tentative 2027 FLL qualifying event will be held February 14 at Takoma Academy in Takoma Park, Md.
