Ramah Christian Academy Holds Week of Prayer
Story by Keisha Bone
Week of Prayer is a cherished time for spiritual renewal, fostering a deep connection with God through prayer, music, Bible study and testimony sharing. In March, Ramah Christian Academy in Cleveland, Ohio, held a Week of Prayer at the Southeast church, also in Cleveland. With approximately 180 students enrolled, the academy, under the leadership of Principal Celeste Giles, embraced this sacred week with enthusiasm and devotion.
The special guest speaker for the event was Tanya Muganda, Allegheny West Conference Children’s Ministries director. She spoke on the powerful theme, “I Will Go and Be a Witness for God.”
Throughout the week, Muganda embraced this theme by bringing biblical stories to life. She shared inspiring accounts of figures such as Abraham, Daniel, Joseph and Naaman's young maid—highlighting how God used each of them to share messages of hope.
To enhance their understanding, Muganda utilized engaging visual aids and skits, making biblical teachings relatable and memorable for the students. Her approach not only deepened their comprehension but also inspired them to embrace their roles as modern-day witnesses of faith.
Students and staff alike were uplifted by the message that God can use anyone—regardless of age, background or past mistakes—to spread the gospel and share personal testimonies.
The week concluded with a heartfelt prayer of dedication, where students were invited to commit their lives to God, with some making the life-changing decision to be baptized.
The grand finale of Week of Prayer was a special Children’s Church Sabbath program held at the academy. The celebration featured a powerful sermon delivered by fifth-grader Malachi Howell, interactive presentations, worship music, games, food and collective prayer. The event left a lasting impression, say school staff, reinforcing the belief that students can be witnesses for Christ wherever they go.
Staff members pray that the students will continue to be lights in their churches and communities, sharing the message of hope and faith with those around them. Ramah Christian Academy’s Week of Prayer 2025 was truly a spiritually enriching experience, says Giles, inspiring students to answer God’s call and boldly declare, “I will go!”
