Washington Adventist University to Launch Comprehensive Online Cybersecurity Certification Program

Story by WAU Staff

Washington Adventist University (WAU) will launch a fully online Cybersecurity Certification Training Program in the upcoming academic term. This program aims to equip students with essential skills and knowledge for careers in the rapidly growing field of cybersecurity, addressing the rising threats and complexity of IT infrastructure. The program aligns with industry standards and prepares participants for CompTIA Network+ and CompTIA Security+ certifications.

The demand for cybersecurity professionals is projected to grow significantly, with a 31.5% increase in information security analyst positions over the next decade, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. WAU’s program, developed in partnership with CompTIA, includes six modules covering cybersecurity fundamentals, network security, secure software development, cryptography, incident response, and ethical hacking. The curriculum provides hands-on experience through simulated labs, video tutorials, and exam preparation materials.

The program, offered entirely online, will be accessible to students globally and accommodate various backgrounds, including those new to the field or with related experience. It features synchronous classes, allowing real-time interaction with instructors and peers. The six-month program costs $3,700, which includes exam vouchers and access to CompTIA resources.

No degree is required for enrollment, making the program accessible to a wide range of participants. Extensive mentoring and support will be provided. Graduates will receive a Certificate of Completion from WAU and, upon passing CompTIA exams, official certification records that enhance career prospects. Enrollment opens soon, with classes beginning in the fall. For more information, prospective students can visit WAU’s website or contact the School of Graduate and Professional Studies at sgps@wau.edu or 301-891-4092.
