Donate Winter Coats to Afghan Refugees at Drive on October 10

The thousands of Afghan refugees housed at the Quantico Marine Base in Virginia are in desperate need of winter coats for the upcoming winter months. To help meet this dire need, several Potomac Conference members are helping.

International recording artists and national talent winners Bernadette and Winston Charles, members of Potomac Conference’s Seabrook church in Lanham, Md.; Rocky Twyman, Founder of the Pandemic Comforters and member of the Rockville (Md.) congregation and Pastor Sifa Potauine of the Beltsville (Md.) church have united to help.

The organizers are urging church and community members to bring used but clean winter coats in all sizes to a drive on Sunday, October 10, 2021,  from 1 -  6 PM. A large truck will be on site at the Beltsville church's Ammendale campus to collect the items and immediately take them to the Marine base.

Bernadette and Winston will perform throughout the event. Their hit song “Dry the Tears” has never been more appropriate, says organizer Rocky Twyman. Organizers hope that their efforts will inspire other religious and social organizations to immediately plan events to help these refugees during this hour of need.

Drop-off Location: at 4200 Ammendale Rd, Beltsville, Md., 1- 6 p.m.
