Mark Hall from Casting Crowns sings during “Night of Hope”

WGTS Encourages Thousands at Night of Hope

If there is one thing we’ve needed more than ever this year it is hope.  Every year WGTS 91.9 presents the “Night of Hope” event targeted at people who are curious to learn more about Jesus.  This year’s event was moved online because of coronavirus restrictions.  Casting Crowns set the mood for the evening with their performance.  Then, Darren Mulligan of the band We Are Messengers shared his story about how Jesus pulled him out of a life of sin and destruction.  At the end of his message, Darren asked listeners who wanted to receive Jesus to pray with him. Finally, Pastor Mike Speegle invited them to text “Jesus” to 800-700-1094 to get the WGTS Bible study called “Getting to Know Jesus.”

"WGTS's Nights of Hope are always special, this one maybe even more so because of the year we've been in. The chance to be reminded that there is hope in spite of what's going on around us, and that hope is in Jesus," shared Pastor Mike Speegle.

Between the live webcast and views of the recording over 50,000 impressions were made with thousands watching the video all the way through. Over 100 people signed up for Bible studies which are being led online with WGTS Morning Show Host Jerry Woods, and New Hope Seventh-day Adventist Church Pastor Mike Speegle on Monday nights.

“There are two ways to look at the pandemic. Sure, it’s changed how we do everything and it prevents us from meeting in person. At the same time, it has been a blessing in disguise as it has allowed us to reach thousands of people who wouldn’t ordinarily be able to come to the event,” said general manager Kevin Krueger.  “We are talking to many people about Jesus for the first time and we’re expanding our media platform to do it.  That’s a blessing we couldn’t have dreamed of even 10 months ago.”

Viewers from at least 10 states and cities around the world were able to watch the Night of Hope.

“While this wasn’t what we had initially planned we’ve found several new ways to tell people about Jesus.  What we learned here is going to help us minister more effectively even after everything gets back to normal,” said WGTS Morning Show Host and Promotions Director Jerry Woods.
