Adventist Risk Management Names New CFO

Story by Paula L. Webber

Adventist Risk Management, Inc., (ARM) appointed Sharon Mabena as its new chief financial officer on Thursday. She previously served as its vice president. In this position her portfolio will include developing and managing budgets for ARM and its companies, as well as provide leadership for Accounting, Risk Placement and Underwriting departments. “I am very pleased that the board voted Sharon as our new CFO,” says Bob Kyte, ARM president. “She has a wealth of knowledge about our financial systems and will do an outstanding job in this important leadership role.”

Mabena has worked for ARM since 2003, first as an internal auditor, then chief accountant, director of Accounting, and most recently as vice president for Underwriting and Risk Placement departments. A native of Zambia, Africa, Mabena is a graduate of Oakwood University (Ala.) with a degree in business administration. She later earned her MBA from Vanderbilt University (Tenn.). She is also a certified public accountant and a certified internal auditor.

Mabena, a member of Potomac Conference’s Beltsville (Md.) church, replaces Mike Jamieson who accepted a position as associate treasurer for the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists.
