Potomac Hispanic Youth Rally Around Joel 2:28
By Celeste Ryan Blyden
Hundreds of Hispanic youth and young adults gathered recently for the Potomac Conference’s First Hispanic Youth Rally. Organized by PC Jovenes (www.pcjovenes.com), the conference’s youth-led ministry, attendees enjoyed good music, fellowship, testimonies, preaching, and seminars. Guest speakers Tray Hayden and Terry Johnsson, popular Potomac pastors and speakers, capitalized on the event theme “Actualiza tu Vida (Upgrade Your Life)”, challenging the youth to “connect with the One who can truly improve your mind, your relationships, and your life.”
Besides personally challenging attendees, organizers say the event was designed to kick off their evangelism initiative for the year. “This is preparation for August when we’ll have 50 youth preach in 50 churches during Hispanic Youth Evangelism Week,” said Frederico Revollo. “As it says in Joel 2:28, we believe God can use the youth to preach the Word and prepare people for Christ’s second coming.”
In addition to pastoring Virginia’s Winchester Spanish, Woodstock Spanish, and Harrisonburg Spanish churches, Revollo serves as the conference’s Hispanic youth coordinator and leads PC Jovenes. This group organized the rally and regularly coordinates youth retreats, camp meeting programs, and evangelism initiatives. They also sponsor a Facebook page and a fabulous website—www.pcjovenes.com—that provides Hispanic youth across the Columbia Union (and beyond) with a virtual meeting place.
