A celebration of life ceremony for Joe Spicer is planned for Saturday May 19 at Sligo church in Takoma Park, Md.
The apostle Paul says in Romans 1:16, “I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation” (KJV). The word “salvation” in this text comes from the Greek word “sozo,” which also means “healing” or “made whole.” Only the good news of Jesus can bring everlasting wholeness and healing!
The USS Yorktown WWII aircraft carrier became the temporary residence for Desmond T. Doss Christian Academy (Lynchburg, Va.) students last week. Seventh through 10th grade students spent three days and two nights on board the historic ship at the Charleston Harbor in South Carolina.
After seeing the success of nationwide storytelling competitions and exhibitions such as The Moth, a National Public Radio show and podcast, last year Richard Castillo, an associate pastor of the Sligo church in Takoma Park, Md., set out to create a program built around storytelling.
“2018 marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Fifty years later, [our nation is] still struggling with many of the ills of that day,” says Charde (Hurst) Hollins, AWC Young Adult Department director. “This conference was designed to celebrate the life of Dr. King by equipping attendees to respond to the many issues we encounter in our communities and throughout this nation.”

Thirty-seven Columbia Union Conference Pathfinder teams recently participated in the North American Division’s Pathfinder Bible Experience in Florida. A sudden venue change in January proved to be a miracle in disguise, allowing a total of 193 teams to compete—an amount way beyond what organizers originally estimated.

Late this spring, the Adventist WholeHealth Network (AWHN) will move their office to the Pennylvania Conference's Blue Mountain Academy in Hamburg, Pa., where AWHN will provide various health ministry training events, wellness camps and conferences, while offering attendees affordable overnight lodging and meals.
More than 1,000 youth and leaders recently gathered at the newly remodeled gym of Tranquil Valley Retreat Center in Andover, N.J., to praise and worship at New Jersey Conference’s annual Youth Convention and Teen Retreat.
