Washington Adventist University Receives 2018 Best Value School Award

Story by Washington Adventist University staff

Washington Adventist University (WAU) in Takoma Park, Md., was recently honored with the Best Value School Award for 2018 by the Best Value Colleges for the second year in a row. This recognition comes as a result of the institution's academic programs, student satisfaction, and affordability.

The nominating body recognized the value of the university’s location, size, and diversity. WAU is a short bus or metro ride away from the nation’s capital, some of the biggest attractions, noteworthy companies and the world headquarters of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. With a 9:1 student to teacher ratio, our campus community offers an intimate environment in addition to students from nearly 40 countries and 32 states.

Also recognized was the school's affordability. WAU’s cost of attendance is 18.7 percent less than the national average for colleges and well below other Adventist schools.

WAU offers nine graduate and 47 undergraduate programs, with courses also offered online. According to the U.S. Department of Education, students who attend WAU earn 64 percent more than the national average with salaries over $43,000.

One student told the Best Values Colleges selection committee, "WAU has influenced me and pushed me to see the world in a new and exciting angle. I can feel God working in this place! The professors are great! Ph.D., experienced full-time professors, the proximity to D.C. opens so many doors; we are a close-knit family of students, faculty, and staff.
