Capitol Hill Church Works with ADRA to Bless a Haitian Community

For one weeklong trip, members of the Capitol Hill church in Washington, D.C., in collaboration with ADRA Connections, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency’s volunteer program, implemented a charity campaign, “Haiti, We Hear You,” to bring goodwill to earthquake survivors in Haiti. 

“This is the type of involvement that we’re looking for through ADRA Connections,” says Nicole Watson, ADRA’s advancement specialist, “and working together with local churches and other entities is key.”

In response to the humanitarian need, more than 60 people from Capital Hill joined ADRA Connections to provide medical, dental, and vision services to more than 2,200 people in Port-au-Prince.  

Members also generously paid the tuition of 200 students and distributed new uniforms and shoes, upgraded the school’s courtyard, initiated the building of a “Heroes” mural and construction of a community center, and donated over 2,500 medical supplies to a local Adventist hospital in Haiti. 

“We wanted to make a long-term, sustainable impact for these families and their community,” says Emil Dean Peeler, senior pastor of the Capitol Hill church.
